Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is elected at-large to four year terms by the voters within the District. Board meetings are held on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the City of Sausalito Council Chambers, 420 Litho Street in Sausalito. All board meetings are open to the public, and we encourage attendance and participation by our citizens.

 

Norman C. Wohlschlaeger

Don Beers -

President

  • Appointed in 1982 and last re-elected in 2007. Term expires in 2011.
  • Lifetime resident of Sausalito for 72 years.
  • Graduate of UC Berkley with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Retired from Chevron Corporation as Senior Product Consultant - Motor and Aviation Gasoline and special products.
  • Member of the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and the ASTM (Testing and Standards Organization).
  • Past President of Sausalito Lions Club.
  • Past President of SIRS (Sons in Retirement)

 

 

Ann Arnott

Ann Arnott -

Vice-President

  • Elected in 2005 and last re-elected in 2009. Term expires in 2013.
  • Resident of Sausalito for 43 years.
  • Graduate of Tufts University in Boston with a degree in education and Bouve Boston School with a degree in physical education.
  • Retired Office Manager for the Sausalito-Marin City Sanitary District after 15 years with the district. Also, a teacher for 18 years and executive director of the YWCA for four years.
  • Member of the Sausalito Women’s Club for 38 years, Board of Directors of the Sausalito Art Festival, Sausalito Art Festival Foundation and Marin County Women’s Bowling Association and member emeritus of Sausalito Chamber of Commerce.
  • Offices Held: President of the Sausalito Women’s Club and Marin County Women’s Bowling Association, and Secretary of the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation.

 

 

Raymond G. Gergus

Director

  • Appointed in 1982 and last re-elected in 2009. Term expires in 2013.
  • Resident of Sausalito for more than 50 years.
  • Graduate of the University of California with a degree in industrial engineering.
  • Retired as Manager of the Engineering Division for the Naval Shipyards after 30 years, in addition to 14 years in upper engineering management for the Shipyards.
  • Member of the Sausalito Lions Club, Friends of Sausalito Library, Marin Lutheran Church and various City of Sausalito committees.
  • Offices held: President of Sausalito Lions Club, Director of Church Properties for the Marin Lutheran Church and President and Treasurer of the Friends of Sausalito Library.

 

 

William R. Berkman

William R. Berkman -

Director

  • Appointed in 1994 and last re-elected in 2009. Term expires in 2013.
  • Resident of Sausalito for 39 Years.
  • Graduate of the University of California with Economics Degree and Boalt Hall School of Law with Law Degree. Memberships in State Bar of California (inactive), Bar of District of Columbia (inactive) and American Bar Association.
  • Retired from practice of law which included 20 years with Morrison & Foerster and over 42 years service (active and reserve) in the U.S. Army. Retired as a Major General, Army of the United States. Last active duty assignments: 7 years in Department of Army as Chief Army Reserve and 6 years in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as Military Executive, Reserve Forces Policy Board.
  • Membership: Professional / National associations related to military and national security including the Civil Affairs Association (President Emeritus).
  • Offices held in Sausalito: Member Board of Library Trustees (including President), Sausalito Lion's Club (including President and Zone Chairman), Director, Martin County Special Districts Association (including President).

 

 

Don Beers

  • Resident of Sausalito for 45 years.
  • Graduate of San Jose State University with a degree in civil engineering. Registered civil engineer with the state of California.
  • Retired Public Works Director and City Engineer for the City of Sausalito after a 27-year career with the City.
  • Served on the Sausalito Underground Utility Committee and the New Site for Sausalito Police & Fire Station Committee, and is a member of the Sausalito Lions Club.
  • Offices Held: President of the Sausalito Lions Club.
